Notes:
“Hishuk ish ts’awalk” is a Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations word. To them it means “All things are one”, a reminder that all pieces of the puzzle are connected. My composition was inspired by a recent visit to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve of Canada and the temperate rainforest ecosystem there.
Commissioned and premiered by the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, Roulette, New York City, November 2014.
